PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 15 August 2026
HalalEats SG is an independent Singapore food discovery service. This policy explains what the public site and chat experience collect, why we use it, how long we keep it, and how to contact us. We aim to handle personal data in line with Singapore's PDPA.
WHAT WE COLLECT
- Chat and session data. Questions, replies and limited message metadata are linked to a random anonymous session ID so conversations can continue across visits.
- Location. With permission, GPS coordinates are used for nearby searches and may be stored with the related conversation for session continuity. A postal code or place you enter is stored in your browser and sent when needed to answer a query.
- Saved items. Bookmarked venues and related display data are associated with the anonymous session ID.
- Technical and abuse-prevention data. Server logs and short-lived rate-limit records may include request metadata such as IP-derived identifiers, timestamps and error details.
HOW WE USE DATA
- Answer halal food, ingredient, price and venue questions.
- Find places near the location you choose to share.
- Restore chat history and saved items for the same anonymous session.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service.
We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party behavioural advertising.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Data is shared only as needed to provide the requested feature:
- OpenRouter and selected model providers process chat prompts and context to generate answers.
- Google Places provides venue photos, ratings, reviews and place enrichment.
- OneMap / Singapore Land Authority resolves Singapore addresses, postal codes and coordinates.
- Open Food Facts may provide product facts and images when grocery features are used.
- Vercel and Railway host the public site, API and database. Processing may occur outside Singapore, subject to the providers' safeguards.
RETENTION AND YOUR CHOICES
Chat messages and inactive anonymous sessions are scheduled for deletion after 180 days. The anonymous session cookie expires after 180 days. Rate-limit records are kept for up to two days. Saved items remain associated with the anonymous session until you remove them or request deletion. Clearing the cookie may prevent you from accessing that session but does not itself delete server-side records.
You can deny location permission, use an area or postal code instead, remove saved items in the app, and clear browser cookies or local storage. To request access, correction or deletion, email us with enough detail to locate the anonymous session.
CHILDREN AND CONTACT
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
